わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道それに朝鮮半島北部や中国、広く北半球の温帯から寒帯地方に分布しています。高山帯の礫地に生え、高さは３０〜５０センチになります。葉は奇数羽状複葉です。６月から８月ごろ、黄色の５弁花を咲かせます。平地でも栽培できるので、ロックガーデンにも植栽されます。中国語では「金露梅（jin lu mei）」と呼ばれます。 韓国語では「ムルッサリ（물싸리）」です。これは「水（ムル: 물）」＋「萩（ッサリ: 싸리）」の合成語です。葉の形が萩の木に似ていて、主に水辺や湿地などでよく育つという推測から、この名前が付けられました。 |

バラ科キンロバイ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Dasiphora fruticosa (syn. Potentilla fruticosa)。英名は Shrubby cinquefoil。 |

The Shrubby cinquefoil (Dasiphora fruticosa) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed from the Chubu region of Honshu north to Hokkaido in Japan, as well as the northern Korean Peninsula and China, and widely in temperate and frigid regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It grows on gravelly ground in alpine zones and is 30-50 cm tall. It has odd pinnate compound leaves and produces five-petalled yellow flowers from June to August. It can be grown on level ground and is also planted in rock gardens. In Chinese, it is called "金露梅" (jin lu mei). In Koreaan, it's called "mul-ssa-ri" (물싸리). This is a compound word consisting of "water" (mul: 물) + "Lespedeza" (ssa-ri: 싸리). This name was given based on the assumption that the shape of its leaves resembles those of the Lespedeza and that it thrives primarily along waterways and in wetlands. |
