The Creeping bugleweed (Ajuga decumbens) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed widely southward from Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula, China and East Asia. This herb grows in hillsides, roadside and spreads by creeping stems. The stem is round and the leaves are oblanceolate with coarse teeth. The several deep purple, labiate flowers come in axiles from March to May. This herb has been used for Chinese herbal medicine which has effects on antiussive and stomachic. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "匍伏筋骨草" and "金瘡小草" (jin chuang xiao cao) in Chinese.
