インドが原産の「イクソラ・コッキネア」の変種です。高さは１．５メートルほどになり、光沢のある長倒卵形の葉が対生します。春から秋にかけて枝先や葉腋から散房花序をだし、クリーム色の花を咲かせます。

アカネ科サンタンカ属の常緑低木で、学名は Ixora coccinea var. lutea。英名は Yellow flame of the woods、Yellow ixora。

The Yellow flame of the woods (Ixora coccinea var. lutea) belongs to Rubiaceae (the Madder family). It is a small evergreen tree that is a variety of "Scarlet jungle flame" native to India. This tree grows up about 1.5 m in height, and the glossy long obovate leaves are opposite. The inflorescences are borne on the branches and axils and bloom cream-colored flowers from spring to fall.
