わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道、朝鮮半島、モンゴル、東シベリアに分布しています。高山帯の砂礫地や草地、ハイマツ帯に生え、高さは１０〜３０センチになります。楕円形の葉は皮質で、縁が裏側に巻きこみます。６月から７月ごろ、枝先に淡黄色の花を数個咲かせます。花冠の基部に、多くの茶色の斑点があります。 |

ツツジ科ツツジ属の常緑低木で、学名は Rhododendron aureum。英名はありません。 |

"Kibana-shakunage" (Rhododendron aureum) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native from Chubu district north to Tohoku district Honshu and Hokkaido, as well as the Korean Peninsula, Mongolia, and Eastern Siberia. This tree grows in alpine gravels, grasslands and creeping pine zone, and can reach 10-30 cm in height. The leaves are ovate and cortex, with the edges wrapping around the back. The several pale yellow flowers come on the tips of the branches from June to July. There are many brown spots on the base of the corolla. |
