"Kita-mamushi-gusa" (Arisaema peninsulae ssp. boreale) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Chubu district of Honshu north to Hokkaido in Japan. This herb grows in the forest edges and the forest floors of the mountainous area, and its height is 30-100 cm. The mottles of pseudostem are not noticeable. It has 2 leaves, each of leaf has 9-17 leaflets. It will develop a spadix wrapped in spathe from May to June. The spathe is usually green, the limb bulges like helmet, and white lines spread and become translucent.
