わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道に分布しています。山地帯から高山帯の湿地に生え、高さは１メートルほどになります。広楕円形の葉は互生します。６月から８月ごろ、穂状花序に淡い緑白色の小さな花を咲かせます。全草にアルカロイドが含まれ、有毒です。 |

ユリ科シュロソウ属の多年草で、学名は Veratrum stamineum。英名はありません。 |

The "Ko-baikei-so" (Veratrum stamineum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed northward from Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido of Japan. This herb grows in montane to alpine marshes and can reach about 1 m in height. The leaves are broad elliptic and alternate. The spikes are borne and bloom small pale greenish-white flowers from June to August. The whole plant contents toxic alkaloid. |
