The "Koba-no-kana-warabi" (Arachniodes sporadosora) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from the Kanto region of Honshu west to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as Taiwan, the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, Indonesia and New Guinea. It grows in the forests of mountainous areas and is 50 to 130 cm tall. The leaves are 3 to 4 times pinnate compound, green, slightly shiny, and hard and papery. The terminal pinna is not clearly defined. The sorus is attached to the midrib along the leaf vein, and the indusium is reniform. In Kew's Plants of the World Online, it is listed as a synonym of Arachniodes cornu-cervi.
