南アメリカのブラジルが原産です。高さは３メートルほどになり、枝は蔓状に伸びます。葉は羽状複葉で、小葉は小さな広楕円形です。夜になると「ねむのき」のように閉じるそうです。１０月から１２月ごろ、枝先の総状花序に黄色い花を咲かせます。

ジャケツイバラ科カワラケツメイ属の落葉低木で、学名は Cassia coluteoides。英名は Climbing cassia、Christmas cassia。

The climbing cassia (Cassia coluteoides) belongs to the family Caesalpiniaceae. It is a small deciduous tree that is native to Brazil. This tree has trailing branches and can reach about 3 m in height. The leaves are pinnate compound with small broad elliptic leaflets. They close at night like Mimosa. The racemes are borne on the branching heads and bloom yellow flowers from October to December.
