こうやぼうき (高野箒)

わが国の本州、関東地方以西から四国、九州それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。日当たりのよい山地や丘陵で、やや乾燥したところに生え、高さは６０〜１００センチになります。１年目の枝には卵形の葉が互生し、２年目の枝にはやや細い葉が３〜５個ずつ束生します。９月から１１月ごろ、１年目の枝先に白色から淡い紅色の管状花を咲かせます。名前は、高野山でこの枝から箒を作ったことから。 |

キク科コウヤボウキ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Pertya scandens。英名はありません。 |

"Kouya-bouki" (Pertya scandens) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a deciduous shrub that is native westward from Kanto district of Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and China. This shrub grows in aridish places on sunny mountains or hills, and can reach 60-100 cm in height. The first year branches foliate ovate leaves oppisitely, and the second year banches foliate narrow-ovate leaves in 3-5 per bundle. The white to pale pink, tubular flower-heads bloom on the first year branches from September to November. The Japanese name is derived from the matter that the brooms were made by its branches at Mount Kouya. |
