わが国の本州、関東地方西南部から中部地方の南部、それに紀伊半島に分布しています。深山の岩場に生え、高さは５〜１０センチくらいになります。根生葉は腎円形で、裏に軟毛が生えています。５月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして紅紫色の花を咲かせます。咽部は淡い橙黄色です。

サクラソウ科サクラソウ属の多年草で、学名は Primula reinii。英名はありません。

"Ko-iwa-zakura" (Primula reinii) belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the southwestern part of the Kanto region to the southern part of the Chubu region, and on the Kii Peninsula in Honshu, Japan. It grows on rocky areas in deep mountains and grows 5 to 10 cm tall. The basal leaves are kidney-shaped and have soft hairs on the underside. The throat of carolla is pale orange-yellow.
