わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島に分布しています。野原や休耕田などの湿ったところに生え、高さは５〜１０センチになります。茎には４稜があり、上部で分枝します。葉は広卵形で対生し、黒点や黒線はありません。７月から９月ごろ、直径５ミリほどの小さな黄色い花を咲かせます。苞葉も広卵形です。

オトギリソウ科ヒメオトギリ属の多年草で、学名は Sarothra laxa。英名はありません。

"Koke-otogiri" (Sarothra laxa) belongs to the family Clusiaceae. It is a perennial herb that is distributed all over Japan and the Korean Peninsula. It grows in moist places such as fields and fallow fields, and can reach 5-10 cm in height. The stem has 4 ridges and branches at the top. The leaves are broad-ovate and opposite, with no black dots or lines. The small yellow flowers with a diameter of about 5 mm come in bloom from July to September. The bracts are also broad-ovate.
