The Slender bottle-daisy (Lagenophora lanata) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in southern Kyushu, Kumamoto and Kagoshima prefectures, the Nansei Islands, as well as Taiwan, southern China, Southeast Asia, India, Australia, New Caledonia, and New Zealand. It grows in grasslands and forest edges from lowlands to mountainous areas, reaching a height of 5 to 12 cm. It has a dahlia-like tuberous root underground. The leaves are obovate with blunt serrations, densely covered with soft hairs, and form a rosette. From April to around November, it extends a flower stalk and produces white capitula. The fruit is an achene about 2.5 mm long, without pappus. It is classified as Critically Endangered (CR) in the Ministry of the Environment's Red List. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "•r“ª‘".
