メキシコのコアウイラ州からケレタロ州に分布しています。ロゼットは爪のような形で直径２〜１０センチほどです。地下に大きな円錐形の塊根があります。成長は遅く、一年で数ミリしか大きくなりません。大きなローズピンク色の花を咲かせます。

サボテン科アリオカルプス属の牡丹サボテンで、学名は Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus。英名は Living rock cactus。

The Living rock cactus (Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a living rock cuctus that is distributed from Coahuila to Queretaro, Mexico. The rosettes are claw-like, 2 to 10 cm in diameter. There is a large conical caudex underground. It is slow growing, only a few millimeters per year. It produces large rose-pink flowers.
