わが国の本州、茨城県以南から四国・九州、それに台湾や中国に分布しています。常緑樹林内に生え、高さは１５〜３０センチになります。偽球茎は多肉質で、広楕円形の葉をだします。６月から７月ごろ、花茎を伸ばし、暗紫褐色の花を総状に咲かせます。台湾華語では「脈羊耳蘭」、中国語では「見血青（jian xue qing）」と呼ばれます。

ラン科クモキリソウ属の多年草で、学名は Liparis nervosa。英名はありません。

The "Koku-ran" (Liparis nervosa) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed southward from Ibaraki prefecture of Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as Taiwan and China. This herb grows in evergreen forests and can reach 15-30 cm in height. The pseudobulbs are carnose and bear broad elliptic leaves. The flowering stalks are borne and the dark purplish brown flowers bloom from June to July. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "脈羊耳蘭", and "見血青" (jian xue qing) in Chinese.
