The Faurie's tectaria (Tectaria fauriei) belongs to the family Tectariaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from Amami-Oshima and Tokunoshima in Japan's Amami Islands to Okinawa Island in the Okinawa Islands, as well as in Taiwan, Hainan Island and Yunnan Province in China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. It grows in moist forests on limestone terrain and reaches a height of 60 to 100 cm. The leaves are simple or pinnate and grow to about 40 cm in length. The petioles are 30 to 60 cm long and have narrow wings at the base. The Sori are scattered on the underside of the leaves. The Ministry of the Environment's Red List classifies it as Critically Endangered (CR). In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "傅氏三叉蕨", and "芽胞叉蕨" (ya bao cha jue) in Chinese.
