わが国の各地をはじめ、東アジアに広く分布しています。日当たりの良い道端や草地に生えます。茎は地面を這い、広卵形の葉は対生します。全体に疎らに毛が生えています。５月から８月ごろ、黄色い花を咲かせます。花冠は深く５裂しています。名前は、果実が小さな「なす」に似ていることから。

サクラソウ科オカトラノオ属の多年草で、学名は Lysimachia japonica。英名はありません。

"Ko-nasubi" (Lysimachia japonica) belongs to Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is widely distributed in East Asia, including various parts of Japan. This herb grows in sunny road sides and grasslands. The stems crawls on the ground, and the broad ovate leaves are opposite. The whole plants are covered with sparse hairs. The yellow flowers bloom from May to August. The corolla is five partite deeply. Japanese name is because the fruit resembles a small "nasu" (Eggplant).
