南アメリカのブラジルからコロンビアに分布しています。高さはふつう５〜８メートルくらいになります。葉は濃緑色で、掌状です。３月から４月ごろ、落葉と同時に総状花序をだし、鮮黄色のトランペット形の花を咲かせます。プラジルの国花です。

ノウゼンカズラ科タベブイア属の常緑または半落葉高木で、学名は Tabebuia chrysotricha。英名は Golden trumpet tree。

The Golden trumpet tree (Tabebuia chrysotricha) belongs to Bignoniaceae (the Trumpet creeper family). It is a tall evergreen or semi-deciduous tree that is native to Brazil and Colombia. This tree usually can reach 5-8 m in height. The leaves are dark green, palmate compound. The racemes are borne almost as soon as defoliation and bloom bright yellow, trumpet shaped flowers in March to April. This is a national flower of Brazil.
