Lysionotus montanus belongs to Gesneriaceae (the African violet family). It is an evergreen small shrub that is distributed in north and east Taiwan. This shrub is an epiphyte, grows on rocks or tree trunks in upland rainforests, and can reach about 30 cm in heigft. Leaves are elliptic, leathery and whorled with acute toothed edges. Flowers are pale lavender on the upper axils. Corolla is labiate, upper lip 2-lobed and lower lip 3-lobed.
