The Plagiomnium moss (Plagiomnium acutum) belongs to the family Mniaceae. It is a mosses that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as in Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, China, the Indochinese Peninsula, India, and Russia. It grows on the ground or on rocks in lowland areas and spreads by extending stolons. In addition to stolons, there are also erect stems. The plant is bright green, with well-branched stems covered in dense adventitious roots. The leaves are 2-3 mm long and 1.5-2.5 mm wide, obovate to broadly ovate in shape, with a distinct margin along the leaf edge and sharp teeth on the upper half of the leaf. It is dioecious. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "縁邊走燈苔", and in Chinese, "縁邊匍灯蘚" (yuanbian pu deng shan).
