"Komeba-tsuga-zakura" (Arcterica nana) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from Chubu district of Honshu north to Hokkaido in Japan, the Kuril Islands and the Far East of Russia. This herb grows on rocky sites in high mountains, and up to a height of 5-15 cm. The leaves are elliptic to ovate, thick and arranged in whorls of 3 crowded. The small, rose-shaped flowers bloom at the end of the branch from June to August. The flowers are white and slightly pink, usually downward in threes.
