The Orchid cactus (Epiphyllum hybrids) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is garden origin. It is cultivar-groups which were cross breeded mainly between Epiphyllum genera and Nopalxochia genera, and they consist of up to 1000 varieties. The plant is sucullent, phyllocladous (flattened leaf-like stems) and spineless. The flowers are spectacular, 15-20 cm across, and bloom from May to June. There are many flower-colors; red, magenta, white, yellow and orange.
