わが国の本州、中部地方から東北地方、北海道に分布しています。高山帯の草原や岩場に生え、高さは１０〜３０センチになります。根生葉はほぼ円形から楕円形で、葉縁に尖った小歯牙状の突出が散在します。７月から８月ごろ、よく分枝した枝先に、黄色の頭花を咲かせます。舌状花は９〜１１個あります。

キク科ニガナ属の多年草で、学名は Ixeris dentata ssp. kimurana。英名はありません。

"Kumoma-nigana" (Ixeris dentata ssp. kimurana) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Chubu district north to Tohoku district of Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan. This herb grows in alpine grasslands or rocky places and can reach 10-30 cm in height. The basal leaves are roundish to elliptic and the odontophyllus projections scattered on the leaf margins. The yellow flower-heads bloom atop of the much-branched stems from July to August. The corolla has 9-11 ray-flowers.
