Quiabentia verticillata belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a treelike or shrubby plant that is native to Bolivia, northwestern Paraguay, and northwestern Argentina. This cactus grows in dry and low areas at altitudes of 350-1,000 m, and up to a height of 2-15 m. The stems branch off from the ends. The leaves are 4-5 cm long and ovate to lanceolate. The shoots are occupied with several, up to 7 cm long thorns. The flowers are bright red, about 1.5 cm long.
