オーストラリア東部のニューサウスウェールズ州に分布しています。海岸の湿った所に生え、高さは２〜３メートルになります。葉は線形から狭倒披針形で、ほとんどが５〜７センチの長さです。下面には、腺点があります。夏に穂状花序をだし、花を咲かせます。赤色の花糸と暗赤色の葯が飛び出します。和名は、「まき（槙）」の葉に似ていることから。

フトモモ科ブラシノキ属の常緑小高木で、学名は Callistemon rigidus。英名は Stiff bottlebrush。

The stiff bottlebrush (Callistemon rigidus) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed to New South Wales in eastern Australia. This tree grows in damp places on the coast, and can reach 2-3 m in height. The leaves are linear to narrow-oblanceolate, mostly 5-7 cm long. The lower surfaces are dotted with glands. The spikes are borne, and the flowers bloom in summer. The red filaments and dark red anthers are exserted.
