南アフリカの西ケープ地方に分布しています。標高３００〜６００メートルの珪岩質または砂岩質の岩礫地に生え、高さは１５〜２０センチになります。葉は灰緑色で多肉質、先端は尖ります。春に直径６センチほどの鮮黄色の花を咲かせます。花は夜開性です。

ツルナ科マカイロフィルム属の常緑多年草で、学名は Machairophyllum albidum。英名はありません。

Machairophyllum albidum belongs to Aizoaceae (the Ice plant family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the Western Cape province in South Africa. This herb grows on siliceous or sandstone rocks 300-600 m elevation, and can reach 15-20 cm in height. The leaves are silvery green and fleshy with sharply pointed. The bright yellow flowers, about 6 cm in diameter bloom in spring. They are nocturnal.
