マダガスカル島が原産です。蔓性で、長さは５メートルくらいに伸び、葉は卵形で光沢があり対生します。５月から９月ごろ、葉腋から散形花序をだし、純白色の筒状花を咲かせます。花冠の先は５中裂します。別名で「ステファノティス」とも呼ばれます。

ガガイモ科シタキソウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Stephanotis floribunda。英名は Madagascar jasmine。

The Madagascar jasmine (Stephanotis floribunda) belongs to Asclepiadaceae (the Milkweed family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the Madagascar. This herb grows on a long trailing vine and can reach about 5 m long. The leaves are ovate, glossy and opposite. The cymes are borne on the axiles and bloom pure white tubular flowers from May to September. The corolla is five-lobate.
