The Swiss cheese plant (Monstera friedrichsthalii) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Peru, Ecuador and Brazil. This vine grows in tropical forests and can reach up to 180 cm long, or more. It climbs up adjacent plants by aerial roots. The leaves are awkward heart-shaped, entire and dotted with holes. The spadix is pale green and the spathe is quite large, approximately 73 cm, and white.
