まどかずら (窓葛) [Index] [Back] 南アメリカのペルーからエクアドル、ブラジルに分布しています。熱帯雨林に生え、蔓性で長さは１８０センチ、あるいはそれ以上になります。気根を伸ばして、他の植物によじ登ります。葉はいびつな心形で全縁、窓のように穴が開いています。肉穂花序は淡緑色、仏炎苞は非常に大きく、およそ７０センチにもなり、白色です。 サトイモ科ホウライショウ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Monstera friedrichsthalii。英名は Swiss cheese plant。 The Swiss cheese plant (Monstera friedrichsthalii) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Peru, Ecuador and Brazil. This vine grows in tropical forests and can reach up to 180 cm long, or more. It climbs up adjacent plants by aerial roots. The leaves are awkward heart-shaped, entire and dotted with holes.
