まいたけ (舞茸) [Index] [Back] 多孔菌キノコの一種で、世界中の暖温帯から温帯北部にかけて分布しています。樹木、とりわけブナ科の樹木の基部に群生します。ふつう夏の終わりから秋の初めに見られます。わが国では「まいたけ」と呼ばれ、食用として馴染み深いキノコです。  トンビマイタケ科マイタケ属のキノコ類で、学名は Grifola frondosa。英名は Hen-of-the-woods、Ram's head、Sheep's head。  The hen-of-the-woods (Grifola frondosa) belongs to the Meripilaceae family. It is a polypore mushroom that is distributed over the warm temperate and northern temperate regions of the world. This mushroom grows in clusters at the base of trees, particularly beech family.
