メキシコが原産です。園芸上は「きぼうまる(希望丸)」と呼ばれています。高さ15センチ、直径8センチくらいの円筒形で、白毛に被われています。マミラリアとは、「いぼ(疣)」があるという意味で、いぼサボテンとも呼ばれます。花期は2月から5月ごろで、小さな赤い花を咲かせます。
サボテン科マミラリア属の疣サボテンで、学名は Mammillaria albilanata。英名は Mammillaria albilanata。
Mammillaria albilanata belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen succulent perennial that is native to Mexico. The stem is cylindrical, about 15 cm in height and 8 cm in diameter. The tubercles are conical, and the axiles are filled by woolly white hairs. The small red flowers bloom from February to May. The genus name "mammillaria" means "having tubercles".
