わが国の本州から四国・九州に分布しています。山地の岩の上や石垣などに生え、茎の基部は分枝して横に這って伸びます。さじ形で肉厚の葉は対生します。６月から７月ごろ、黄色い小さな花を咲かせます。小さなロゼットで越冬します。「メキシコまんねんぐさ」と同じように、屋上などの薄層緑化によく使用されます。

ベンケイソウ科マンネングサ属の常緑多年草で Sedum makinoi。英名はありません。

"Maruba-mannen-gusa" (Sedum makino) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. This herb grows on the rocks and stone walls of mountains, and the stems are branched at the base and crawl on the grounds. The leaves are spatulate, thick and arranged in opposite. The small yellow flowers bloom in June through July. This herb passes the winter in rosette. It is often used as a thin-layer afforestation planting on the roof like the Mexican stonecrop.
