メキシコが原産です。灰緑色から光沢のある緑色をしています。「ゆうえき（疣腋）」には白い毛と棘がつき、棘は白色から赤色、そして灰色に変化します。マミラリアとは、「いぼ（疣）」があるという意味で、「いぼさぼてん（疣サボテン）」とも呼ばれます。小さな赤い花を咲かせます。園芸上は「はくりゅうまる（白竜丸）」と呼ばれます。写真の中・下は「赤刺白竜丸」。

サボテン科マミラリア属の疣サボテンで、学名は Mammillaria compressa。英名は Mother of hundreds。

The Mother of hundreds (Mammillaria compressa) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen wart cactus that is native to Mexico. It is gray-green to shiny green in color. The "wart axils" have white hairs and spines that vary from white to red to gray. Mammillaria means "wart", and it is also called "wart cactus". It produces small red flowers. Horticulturally, it is called "Hakuryu-maru" in Japan. The middle and bottom of the photo are "Akatoge-Hakuryu-maru".
