The little nipple cactus (Mammillaria heyderi ssp. heyderi) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is distributed Texas and New Mexico in the United States, northand east Mexico. This cactus grows in arid areas and generally solitary. Stem is depressed globose, green, 5 cm high and 12 cm in diameter. Central spine is one and horny, radial spines are 15-22, white and bristly. Flowers are 2 cm in diameter, cream colored with darker midstripe. Fruits are berries and ripen red.
