メキシコ中部のケレタロ州およびサンルイスポトシ州に分布しています。標高７５０〜２２００メートルのの地域に生え、高さは７〜１４センチになります。日当たりのよい岩の隙間や乾燥した斜面、石灰岩質の場所を好みます。マミラリア・ハーニアナの短毛型ですが、マミラリア・ハーニアナのシノニムとされることがあります。園芸上は「銀河（ぎんが）」と呼ばれます。

サボテン科マミラリア属の疣サボテンで、学名は Mammillaria saetigera (syn. Mammillaria hahniana)。英名は Dumpling cactus。

The Dumpling cactus (Mammillaria saetigera) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen succulent perennial that is found in the states of Queretaro and San Luis Potosi in central Mexico. It grows in areas at elevations of 750 to 2200 m and reaches a height of 7 to 14 cm. It prefers sunny crevices in rocks, dry slopes, and limestone areas. It is a short-haired variety of Mammillaria hahniana, but is sometimes considered a synonym of Mammillaria hahniana.
