アメリカの中南部、テキサス州からメキシコの東北部にかけて分布しています。乾燥した地域に生え、大きな群落を形成します。茎は濃緑色の球状で、高さは９センチ以上、直径は５〜７センチになります。中棘は針状で５〜１２個あり、白色に先端が褐色です。縁棘は細い針状で２５〜５０個あり、白色から淡黄色です。腋には白色の剛毛が生えます。花は直径１．５センチほどの淡いピンク色から淡黄色です。果実は円筒形の液果で赤く熟します。

サボテン科マミラリア属の疣サボテンで、学名は Mammillaria prolifera ssp. texana。英名はありません。

Mammillaria prolifera ssp. texana belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is distributed Texas in the United States and northeast Mexico. This cactus grows in arid areas and forms large cluster. Stem is dark green globose and up to 9 cm tall, 5-7 cm in diameter. Central spines are 5-12, needle like and white with brown tips. Radial spines are 25-50, slender needle like and white or pale yellow. White bristles are born in axils. Flowers are 1.5 cm wide and pale pink to pale yellow. Fruits are cylindrical berries and ripen red.
