まるばにっけい (丸葉肉桂)

わが国の九州それに南西諸島に分布しています。海岸の岩場や砂地、山頂部に生え、高さは１０メートルほどになります。よく分枝します。葉は倒卵形で革質、三行脈があり、対生または互生します。６月と１２月から１月の２回、葉腋から散形花序をだし、小さな黄緑色の花を咲かせます。果実は楕円形の液果で、１１月に紫黒色に熟します。別名で「こうちにっけい」とも呼ばれます。 |

クスノキ科ニッケイ属の常緑小高木で、学名は Cinnamomum daphnoides。英名はありません。 |

"Maruba-nikkei" (Cinnamomum daphnoides) belongs to the Lauraceae (the Laurel family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to Kyushu and the Nansei Islands. This tree grows in coastal rocky places, sandy places and the mountaintops, and can reach about 10 m in height. It is much branched. The leaves are obovate, leathery with conspicuous three parallel-vein, and arranged in opposite or alternate. The umbels are borne at the axils, and bloom small yellowish green flowers, twice in June and December to January. The fruit is a elliptic berry and ripens purple-black in November. |
