The Marguerite (Chrysanthemum frutescens) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. This herb was introduced into Japan in the Meiji Era (about 130 years ago). This herb can reach 50-80 cm in height, and the base of stems lignify. Leaves are dissected or bipinnate. Flower-like heads with white rays on the termial stems come from March to May. Various cultivars are breeded, such as yellow or pink flower color, spider or anemone type.
