まるばちしゃのき (丸葉苣の木)

わが国の本州、千葉県南部以西から四国・九州、それに台湾や中国に分布しています。沿岸の山地の林縁などに生え、高さは７〜９メートルになります。樹皮は灰白色で、縦に深い割れ目が入ります。葉は広楕円形で互生し、先端は急に尖ります。３月から７月ごろ、枝先に散房花序をだし、小さな白色の花をいっぱい咲かせます。果実は球形から扁球形の核果で、果肉はほのかに甘く食べることができます。 |

ムラサキ科チシャノキ属の落葉小高木で、学名は Ehretia dicksonii。英名はありません。 |

"Maruba-chisha-no-ki" (Ehretia dicksonii) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is a semi-tall deciduous tree that is distributed westward from southern Chiba prefecture of Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, Taiwan and China. This tree grows in forest edges of coastal mountains, and can reach 7-9 m in height. The barks are gray-white and deep furrowed longitudially. The leaves are broad elliptic with steep acute tips, and arranged in alternate. The corymbs are borne on the terminal branches, and the small white flowers bloom in profusion from March to July. The fruits are globose to flat-globose, and drupes, and the fleshes of fruits are sweetish and edible. |
