アメリカのテキサス州に分布しています。荒れ地や道端などに生え、フェンスや低木の茂みをよじ登ります。茎や葉は、やわらかな開出毛に被われています。葉は心形で、２．５〜５センチの葉柄がつきます。５月から７月ごろ、緑色の花を咲かせます。その平らな表面には、網目模様があります。果実は袋果で、種子は風によって運ばれます。

The netted milkweed (Matelea reticulata) belongs to Asclepiadaceae (the Milkweed family). It is a perennial vine that is native to Texas in the United States. This vine grows in waste lands or road sides, and climbs fences and brush. Its stems and leaves are covered with soft spreading hairs. The leaves are heart-shaped with 2.5-5 cm long petioles. The green flowers appear in April through July. They have reticulate veins pattern on the flat surfaces. The fruits are follicles and the seeds are carried on the wind.
