インドからアフガニスタン、イランにかけて分布しています。半蔓性で、高さは３メートルくらいになります。６月から８月ごろ、茎の先端に芳香のある白い花を咲かせます。中国ではジャスミンティーの原料にされます。フィリピンの国花でもあるそうです。

モクセイ科ソケイ属の常緑低木で、学名は Jasminum sambac。英名は Arabian jasmine。

The Arabian jasmine (Jasminum sambac) belongs to Oleaceae (the Olive family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed from India to Afghanistan and Iran. This tree is a semi-vine and grows up to a height of 3 m. The fragrant white flowers bloom atop of stems from June to August. This flower will be used as raw material for jasmine tea in China. It is the national flower of the Philippines.
