アメリカの南西部、カンザス州からテキサス州、西へはアリゾナ州まで分布しています。石灰岩地の明るい草地などに生え、高さは１５〜４０センチになります。か細い茎は、不規則に広がり、葉は線形から線状披針形です。３月から４月ごろ、淡青色から濃青色の花を咲かせます。

アマ科アマ属の一年草で、学名は Linum pratense。英名は Meadow flax。

The Meadow flax (Linum pratense) belongs to Linaceae (the Flax family). It is an annual herb that is native to the southwestern United States; from Kansas south to Texas west to Arizona. This herb grows in open grassy areas on calcareous soils and can reach 15-40 cm in height. The slender stems sprawl and the leaves are linear to linear-lanceolate. The light blue to dark blue flowers come in March to April.
