わが国の固有種で、北海道に分布しています。高山帯の砂礫地に生え、高さは３〜１０センチほどで、マット状に広がります。葉は３出複葉で、灰色がかった緑色をしています。７月から８月ごろ、黄色い花を咲かせます。花弁の隙間が広く、大きな萼片が目立ちます。名前は、発見地の雌阿寒岳から。

バラ科キジムシロ属の多年草で、学名は Potentilla miyabei。英名はありません。

"Meakan-kinbai" (Potentilla miyabei) bolongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan, and distributed to Hokkaido. This herb grows on alpine screes, spreads to matlike, and can reach 3-10 cm in height. The leaves are trifoliate and grayish green. The yellow flowers bloom July to August. The corolla has broad gaps between petals and conpicuous large sepals.
