わが国の固有種で、北海道に分布しています。高山帯の砂礫地に生え、高さは３〜１０センチほどで、マット状に広がります。葉は３出複葉で、灰色がかった緑色をしています。７月から８月ごろ、黄色い花を咲かせます。花弁の隙間が広く、大きな萼片が目立ちます。和名は、発見地の雌阿寒岳から。

バラ科キジムシロ属の多年草で、学名は Potentilla miyabei。英名はありません。

The "Meakan-kinbai" (Potentilla miyabei) bolongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan, and distributed to Hokkaido. This herb grows on alpine screes, spreads to matlike, and can reach 3-10 cm in height. The leaves are trifoliate and grayish green. The yellow flowers bloom July to August. The corolla has broad gaps between petals and conpicuous large sepals. Its Japanese name comes from Mt. Meakan, where it was discovered.
