ネパールに分布しています。標高３０００〜４５００メートルの高山帯に生え、高さは１〜２メートルにもなります。春の終わりから夏にかけて、サテンのような紅色の花をいっぱいに咲かせます。花色は、紫色やまれに白色もあるそうです。

ケシ科メコノプシス属の多年草で、学名は Meconopsis napaulensis。英名は Satin poppy。

|
The Satin poppy (econopsis napaulensis) belongs to Papaveraceae (the Poppy family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Nepal. This herb grows in the alpine zone at an altitude of 3000-4500 m and can reach 1-2 meters in height. The satin-like crimson flowers are in full bloom from late spring to summer. The color of the flowers is purple and rarely white.
