インドネシアのジャワ島が原産です。高温多湿と半日陰の環境を好み、高さは１メートルほどになります。熱帯アジアでは、かなり一般的に栽培されています。マグニフィカ種（Medinilla magnifica）とよく似ていますが、花序の上にピンク色の苞がありません。 |

ノボタン科メディニラ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Medinilla speciosa。英名は Showy melastome。 |

|
The showy melastome (Medinilla speciosa) belongs to Melastmataceae (the Melastome family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to Java Island of Indonesia. This shrub thrives in high-temperature and humidity, semi-shade and can reach about 1 m in height. It is cultivated fairly commonly in the tropical Asia. It looks like Medinilla magnifica, though it has not pink bracts above the inflorescences. |
