The thyme honey-myrtle (Melaleuca thymifolia) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to eastern Australia, Queens and New South Wales. This shrub grows in coastal heath, scrublands and damp places, and can reach 1-2 m in height. The leaves are narrow-elliptic, opposite with acute apex. The flowers are pink to deep mauve and bloom in summer. The stamens are 40–60 per bundle. The fruits are capsules and barrel-shaped, 3-5 mm across.
