メキシコの名前がついていますが、原産地は不明です。高さは20センチほどで、茎は直立し細い葉が密につきます。5月ごろ、小さな黄色い花をいっぱいに咲かせます。わが国では一部で野生化しています。最近では、屋上庭園やグランドカバーにも使われています。 
ベンケイソウ科マンネングサ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Sedum mexicanum。英名は Mexican stonecrop。 
The Mexican stonecrop (Sedum mexicanum) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is unspecified the country of origin though its name includes "Mexican". This herb can reach about 20 cm in height. The stem is erect and sends out linear leaves. The many small yellow flowers come in May. This herb is naturalized locally in Japan. It is used for ground cover and roof garden plant.
