わが国の本州から四国・九州、それに台湾や中国に分布しています。山地に生え、高さは６０〜１００センチになります。葉は三角状心形です。６月から９月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして、長い総状花序に黄色い頭花を咲かせます。総苞は短い筒形で、舌状花はふつう１〜３個あります。名前は、「おたからこう」に比べて優しく見えることから。

キク科メタカラコウ属の多年草で、学名は Ligularia stenocephala。英名はありません。

"Me-takarako" (Ligularia stenocephala) beongs to Asteracear (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as Taiwan and China. This herb grows in mountains and can reach 60-100 cm in height. The leaves are deltoid-cordate. The long racemes are borne on the upper stems and bloom yellow flower-heads from June to September. The flower-head has a short columnar bract and 1-3 ray flowers.
