アメリカのテキサス州からニューメキシコ州、それにメキシコに分布しています。一属一種です。河岸や崖の表面に生え、高さは１．２〜９メートルになります。葉は奇数羽状複葉で、卵形の小葉が３〜７個つきます。小葉は濃緑色で鋸歯があります。早春に、小さな芳香のある、淡いピンク色から紫がかったピンク色の花を咲かせます。種子は黒い球形で、有毒です。

ムクロジ科ウングナディア属の落葉小高木で、学名は Ungnadia speciosa。英名は Mexican buckeye。

The Mexican buckeye (Ungnadia speciosa) belongs to Sapindaceae (the Soapberry family). It is the only species in the genus Ungnadia. It is a semi-tall decidous tree that is native to Texas, New Mexico and northern Mexico. This tree grows along stream banks, in cliff faces and can reach 1.2-9 m in height. The leaves are odd-pinnate compond with 3-7 ovate leaflets. The leaflets are dark green with toothed edges. The small, fragrant, light pink to purplish pink flowers come in early spring. The seed are round black and poisonous.
