The Heart-leaf rosemallow (Hibiscus cardiophyllus) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Texas in the south-central United States to Mexico. It grows in arid areas and is 30-40 cm tall. From May to November, bright red flowers, 4 to 5 cm in diameter, bloom from the leaf axils with peduncles extending from the stalks. The Japanese name "ƒƒLƒVƒR•P•‡—u" is tentative.
