"Men-yadake" (Pseudosasa japonica f. pleioblastoides) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is an evergreen bumboo that is a variety of "yadake" (arrow bamboo) distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu in Japan. The culm grows straight and can reach a height of 3 to 5 m. The cross section of the culm is circular and the internodes are long, similar to the "yadake", but several branches are produced from each node. The bamboo wood is said to be softer than that of the "yadake".
