中国原産で、「レモン」と「オレンジ」を掛け合わせたものと考えられています。成木は高さは２〜３メートルになり、深緑色で光沢のある葉がつきます。花は白色で、基部が紫色を帯び、芳香があります。果実は「レモン」よりも丸みがあり、濃い黄色で熟すとほのかにオレンジ色となります。果肉は濃い黄色で、果実１個あたり１０粒ほどの種子があり、また酸味が弱くて、甘みがあります。

ミカン科ミカン属の常緑低木で、学名は Citrus x meyeri。英名は Meyer lemon。

The Meyer lemon (Citrus x meyeri) belongs to Ructaceae (the Citrus family). It is a small evergreen tree that is a hybrid citrus fruit native to China. It is thought a cross between "Lemon" (Citrus limon) and "Sweet orange" (Citrus sinensis). Mature trees are around 2-3 m tall with dark green shiny leaves. Flowers are white with a purple base and fragrant. The fruit is rounder than a true lemon, deep yellow with a slight orange tint when ripe. The pulp is a dark yellow and contains up to 10 seeds per fruit.and has a sweeter, less acidic flavor.
